Could Invisalign be sufficient to close my open bite? (photo)

Question

I had traditional braces removed 10 years ago as a kid, with 2 permanent retainers on the top and bottom, but they did not prevent the formation of my open bite. I am most concerned about the left lower side, and would like to bring the bottom teeth up. The rest of my teeth are still straight and I am otherwise happy with my smile. How long does one typically need to wear Invisalign? a year?

Open bites is often caused by a strong forward tongue thrust. In your case Invisalign a brace are a good option to prevent the open bites formation and if we talk about time duration of braces generally it will take 1 or 2 years depend upon how bite is closed. Thank you for posting your question.  What needs to be determined is why the open bite is happening.  Do you thrust your tongue between your front top and bottom teeth?  If so, the habit will need to be broken prior to closing it.  If that is not the case then there may be an issue in the jaw joint or TMJ.  That will need to be checked out prior to closing the bite.  Invisalign can be used to close an open bite. Typically it can take 1 to 2 years depending how the bite is closed.
