I heard a Dr. once say that they give adderall to patients after liposuction. What's the reason and benefit of that?

Just curious. I would not take an amphetamine, but I am curious to see what it does to help the body recover from trauma. Whatever benefit it does give, is there a natural alternative?

This is part of my protocol and likely you heard from me.  For younger patients or those at risk for swelling (lower legs, lipedema) the amphetamines salts help the bodies metabolism by increasing weight loss and by also decreasing swelling.  There are many studies in the lymphedema literature on this and part of the protocols that endocrinologists and vascular physicians use for those with lower leg swelling.  This works especially well for my hi-def patients who do not get fat transfer.  I do not give this in those who have gotten recent fat transfer. Best, Dr. Emer.

Thank you for your question. Unfortunately I have no idea why a physician would prescribe adderall to a patient as part of a liposuction procedure. There is no indication for that medication to be given.

I've never heard of prescribing Adderall after lipo. Maybe it's being used to suppress the patients appetite so they have even more weight loss after the procedure lol
