Right above my butt i have a fat pouch, i believe its called a lumbosacral fat pad?I have tried working out, but nothing has changed. i've had the "pouch" since I was a kid. Do I have to be completely put under for this procedure? also, cost wise what is the general range I am looking at. After procedure I heard that the fat that was removed can "move to different placed on the body," is this true? what is recovery time for this specific procedure. and will it make a huge difference to my lower back area?
Answer: Lower back fat deposit Dear Athena, A picture would have been helpful. The amount and size of the fat deposit area can determined the type of anesthesia. Small amount can be done under local anesthesia. If you do not lose the amount of fat removed weight, the fat will be spread to other places, however, in your situation, the amount of fat is relatively small and will not have any impact on the rest of the body. The recovery time , as far as exercise and physical work is 2-3 weeks. Without picture or examining you, I can not tell you how big will be the change. Concerning the cost, it varies according to the size of the area and the anesthesia type. Always, consult with experienced board certified plastic surgeons who operate in accredited surgery center for your safety. Check the before and after pictures in the photo gallery, to make sure that they are numerous, consistent and attractive. Best of luck, Dr Widder

Answer: Liposuction This area is very treatable with liposuction. Since it is a small area it can be done under local anesthesia in almost every patient. It is hard to say what the cost would be but not having to pay for OR &/or anesthesia fees will certainly bring down the cost. As far as the fat moving elsewhere, it is simply not true. Because some of the fat is removed from this area, weight gain will cause less of a change as there are less cells to increase in size. Recovery should be fairly quick with this small area. You will probably feel that the difference is "huge". Best wishes for your decision!

Answer: It is true that you can remove fat from one area and transfer it to another. This is quite a common situation in patients seeking buttock augmentation. We always combine the buttock augmentation with liposuction to the areas around the buttocks that are excessively full. You could certainly remove fat from the lower back selectively, leaving the buttock fat below in place and you could prepare that removed fat and use it to graft to the buttock to add volume. Usually you will need more fat than just that area to make a significant difference to the buttock and often this would be combined with liposuction of the flanks and abdomen as needed.

Answer: Lumbosacral fat pad treatment Hi, this is a common area to treat with liposuction. Costs vary with the type of procedure and other factors including anesthesia and facility. Results in this area are predictable and most patients in my experience are happy. You should see a board certified plastic surgeon to learn about your options.
