Breast augmentation, breast enlargement and breast implants are terms that are virtually synonymous. They all mean increasing the size of the breast by placement either saline or silicone implants.Downtime is usually 3-5 days with all my patients returning to work by then. I ask my patients to refrain from vigorous exercise until they are 4 weeks out from the surgery. Most important ask of breast augmentation surgery is to find a board certified plastic surgeon that you mesh with and has plenty of experience performing this surgery proficiently.Good luck.
Breast implants mean an artificial implant, water-filled or silicone, is put into your breasts to increase their size. Breast augmentation is any procedure that increases your breast size. Breast implants is the most common method of doing this but fat injections is another commonly used method for smaller size increases. When implants are put under the muscle most people take a week off from work but many patients are able to get to work earlier than that. Patients with implants placed over the muscle generally have an even easier and faster recovery. I hope this information helps.Thomas Taylor, MD, FACSPasadena, CA
Breast implants and breast augmentation really imply the same thing. The down time is really only a few days, although your probably won't be able excercise for about three weeks. Depending. On what type of work you do you may be able to go back to work in four or five days.
Both procedures are virtually identical. Implants are placed normally submuscular during a breast augjdn
Mandy,It depends on what kind of work you do but I tell my patients to take a solid week off. Breast augmentation can be done with implants or fat grafting. Breast implants is breast augmentation done with either saline or silicone implants. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any more questions.I hope this was helpful,Dr. Daniel BarrettPlastic SurgeryBeverly Hills, CA
A breast augmentation is typically performed using an implant so basically it's the same procedure. An augmentation may be performed using you're own fat and we refer to this as the natural breast augmentation or fat transfer to the breast. The average downtime for an implant augmentation is about a week while an augmentation utilizing fat transfer is typically a few days.
A breast implant is the device which is placed in the breast to augment a breast. There are many different types of implants available, most of them silicone gel. Implants can be round, shaped, smooth, textured, and even saline if you choose. Most of my patients can drive and return to work in about 5 days. Skilled surgeons use a minimally traumatic technique to place implants with small incisions. Overall, patients are really happy with the results when good decisions are made about size and shape.Best wishes!
Thank you for your questions. Breast implants are way to augment the breasts. A breast augmentation can also be performed with a fat transfer. The downtime really depends on the patient and the healing process specific to their case. Typically, I tell patients that they should avoid strenuous exercise for six weeks after their breast augmentations. All the best,Dr. ResultsMiami, FL
Thank you for your question. The recovery time varies from patient to patient and depends on many factors, including how much surgery is required, the size of implants used, stretching of the skin, and a person's natural pain threshold. As far as returning to work, most can return with a few days, depending on their job requirements and whether its a sedentary versus physically demanding profession. Best to seek an in person examination with a board certified plastic surgeon who can address your concerns, and give a more realistic recovery time after listening to your desired outcome. As far as breast augmentation versus implant, an implant is the medical device placed into a woman's breast during a breast augmentation, which is the procedure that enlarges a woman's breast. Hope this helps
Thank you for the question. Your plastic surgeon will always be your best resource when it comes to returning to specific occupation/activities. He/she knows exactly what was done, how you are progressing (every patient has a different experience after breast surgery), whether or not you have experienced any complications or setbacks, and exactly what type of activities you wish to return to.On average, I ask patients to take off 5 days to 1 week after breast augmentation surgery (desk job). For some professions, I may suggest a going back to work with a lighter workload (or in your case, having someone else do the lifting etc.. that would involve the pectoralis muscle). Ideally, I ask patients not to lift anything heavy or do things ( like pulling/pushing) that contract the pectoralis musle for at least 3 weeks. Patients are able to return to running and heavier lifting 4 to 6 weeks after surgery. I ask my patients to stay away from "pectorals major" activity such as push-ups and bench press for several months.Ultimately, it will be important for you to “listen to your body”, apply common sense, and return to activities/exercises in a gradual fashion. Best wishes.
Following Breast Augmentation surgery you are wrapped in an Ace Bandage to keep the implants from riding up. The next morning you are brought back into the office and placed into a sports bra. From there you would be seen one week post-op to have sutures removed. I would verify with your Board...
If the PS you have seen is already saying that your breats would look better with a lift and an implant there may be real limits to the size implant that would make you look better without causing further distortion. The best implant size is usually chosen by looking at the base diameter...
Thank you for your question about breast augmentation with aquafilling.I would recommend you not have this done.Aquafill is a mixture of salt water + polyamide.Polyamide is a mix of substances, including nylon.Nylon is not absorbed - and permanent fillers virtually always cause late problems...
