Gynecomastia Surgery vs. FTM breast reduction?

Thank you for sharing your excellent question.  Costs will vary based on the exact procedures needed to achieve your goals, but 10K does sound a bit high for most gynecomastia cases.  This may be due to the LA market.  Although gynecomastia and FTM appear to be similar procedures, the incision length of a FTM can make the procedure faster, which can reduce the cost in some patients over a gynecomastia.

the cost of surgery depends on a lot of factors (type of surgery, number of treated areas, anesthesia fee, surgeon, facility fee, city, etc.). It would be the best to visit or call plastic surgery offices and ask for a price.

Hello, and thank you for your question. (Keep in mind that an in-person consultation is necessary for the best advice.) The procedures you have described have different indications and are for different patient populations---even though they are somewhat similar. Gynecomastia surgery is more technically demanding because it is done through smaller incisions---resulting in limited visibility and longer time in the operating room. FTM surgery typically is done through larger incisions which reduces the amount of time spent in the operating room---translating into lower costs. There are certainly other factors that play a role in how those plastic surgeons set their fees, but they are beyond the scope of this Q&A. 
Anyway, if you decide to pursue surgery it’s very important that you find a surgeon whom you are comfortable with and trust and who evaluates you in-person and tailors an individualized treatment plan for you and your aesthetic goals. Best of luck!

Not sure why you are getting different price quotes.    As I can't see any pictures it is hard to give you adviece.    The FTM is usually much more expensive then just liposuction for gynecosmastia.  Best to see a board certified plastic surgeon.

I charge essentially the same and would not recommend a breast reduction because of scars and reshaping of breast which I would think you would want as flat as possible.
