Hello, thanks for your time. I'm 7 weeks post op from my FUE hair transplant. I started using minoxidil 2 days ago but im experiencing slight itching and my scalp became a bit more red than before minoxidil, should i discontinue using minoxidil until my scalp has healed completely? Thanks
Answer: Minoxidil Causing Redness Minoxidil can certainly cause irritation and redness. Generally it won't help with transplanted hair however it will work on the thinning, miniaturizing hairs. I recommend following up with your Hair Transplant Physician to further discuss whether to continue treatment or not.

Answer: Redness from Minoxidil At 7 weeks post procedure the scalp is essentially healed but may still be slightly sensitive. If you are using it twice a day you could try decreasing to once a day and see if the irritation subsides. You could also try the women's formulation which is a 2% concentration rather than 5%.It may take some trial and error-if the redness/irritation persists than Minoxidil probably is not for you.Finasteride(Propecia) and Low Level Laser Light therapy are 2 effective alternatives for preventing hair loss.

Answer: Minoxidil Side Effects I'd recommend talking to your doctor about it, but yes, consider stopping using it in the meantime. Those are common side effects from Minoxidil and it doesn't help with transplanted hairs anyways, just your natural ones.
