Numbness 2 months after FUE hair transplant, is this OK or my nerves are damaged permanent?

2 month ago i had FUE hair transplantation and i still dont feel anything in the front of my head.Is this numbness normal or the nerves can be damaged permanent? Also my native hair in this numb area is like a hay. Is numbness bad for hair growing or does not affectit? Can i use minoxidil in numb area? Thanks

Dear Celavko,

The short answer is yes, it’s normal, and all of the sensation should return. The FUE procedure can sometimes cause numbness, and it sometimes takes 4-6 months for full sensation to return. If you are still numb after 6 months, I would make a visit to your hair transplant surgeon and let them know about your concerns. You can use minoxidil in the numb area; it will not affect the numbness. I hope you find this information helpful to you.

You can have numbness for several months after surgery.  If you are concerned it is best to follow up with your doctor

Numbness shouldn't have an effect on the growth of your hair. It's normal to experience some numbing following the surgery, and can take several months before it starts to go away. If after 6 months it doesn't seem to be improving then I'd talk to your doctor about it. Minoxidil is fine to use there.

Sometimes, the patients may have numbness in the recipient area following hair transplant surgery. However, it keeps on improving and the sensations usually come back to normal in 6-12 months.It will be better if you can visit your doctor and discuss your case with him.

no, scalp nerves have not damaged permanent.it is normal to feel numb the areas of both donor area and recipient area couples of months after the surgery .numbness does not bad for hair growing. you may use minox on any area /numb area.

The superficial nature & depth of graft sites and donor sites in FUE makes permanent numbness unlikely.  It's only been 2 months since your surgery so you do have some time for this to resolve.  Nevertheless, it is always a good plan to check in with your FUE surgeon.  Did you have any complicating factors during your recovery? Hair growth should be unaffected by numbness and Rogaine is generally a good idea for maintenance of the native hairs.  All of these issues should be presented to your surgeon.  Good luck to you!

Its normal to experience numbness after a hair transplant in both the donor and the recipient area.  Usually the feeling returns in the donor quickly as the hair was removed and the scalp oozes.  It can take up to a year for all the feel to return.  You may use minoxidil during this time.  If you remain concerned, please check back with your hair transplant surgeon.

At 2 months most of the numbness should have gone away. Go back and see your doctor and ask your doctor to examine you for nerve injuries
