Is it better to do a facial fat transfer first and then Fractional CO2 laser, or vice versa?

Why not have both procedures done simultaneously? Though the recovery from fat transfer is a matter of days, it is a good time to have full face CO2 laser resurfacing. We perform both of these procedures under intravenous anesthesia. The fat transfer procedure is performed first, followed by the laser resurfacing.

co2 / lasers can be done on the same day as fat grafting without issues, we do this quite often and with PRP/acell to improve the outcomes and stimulate more quick healing. Best, Dr. Emer.

If the plan is for both procedures I usually prefer to do both procedures at the same time so there is only one recovery period. I feel the presence of the stem cells which are part of the fat transfer helps the healing of the laser. If it is decided to do only one at a time I may recommend one or the other first depending on the needs of the patient. Deep thermal injury for a CO2 laser should not happen.

You should always perform ablative resurfacing first and then fat graft to avoid injury from thermal injury of the laser beam. They are still done at the same time but actually perform the laser first.

I don't think it makes any difference. I myself would do them together. The two processes don't interact
