Hi, I am 23 and suffered significant fat loss in the face after a (mild laser) to the point that I feel like I barely have any fat left. My face shape ( cheek bones/ muscles) are still intact, just suffered significant fat loss. What might my best options be as I am really depressed. I know dermal fat grafting/ micro fat grafting, as well as implants(which I wish to avoid). In my case, which might be better dermal or regular fat graft? I highlighted in the pic where I have the fat loss. Thanks!

Answer: Facial volume restoration Facial volume restoration is best done with fillers. In comparison to fat transfer fillers are far more precise and predictable. They can be injected with tiny needles or cannula’s.Fat transfer on the other hand is more unpredictable, unforgiving and imprecise.A dermal graft requires open surgery. It’s probably not an option at all for you. I suppose dermis could be chopped up in little pieces and attempted to be injected through a syringe. I’m not quite sure what you’re referring to and without a picture comparing before and after your treatment we can’t really recommend anything specific for you.Fat transfer is probably the only realistic permanent solution. My suggestion would be conservative treatments having multiple rounds of treatment until your facial volume has been built up to your liking. Doing this every six months or once a year until you like the results is a far better option then Being over grafted or being left with an uneven contour or hard lumpy areas of fat necrosis. I suggest having multiple in person consultations with board-certified plastic surgeons who have years of experience doing high-quality facial fat transfer or facial aesthetics and are keen on volume restoration as a big part of the practice.Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
