Hello, I am 25 and had gasteric sleeve June of 2014. I am currently 220 and 5'5. I really would like to get fat transfer to my butt for a bbl but I'm having a problem getting a plastic surgeon to do it. I have went to two and both said I am not a good candidate and couldn't really explain why. I'm trying to understand if it is my surgery that prevents this or am I too large for the surgery? Also if I'm not able to do fat transfer ever can someone tell me my other options for a larger butt?

Answer: Fat transfer after gasteric sleeve? There are many factors that go into determining whether someone is a suitable candidate for surgery. If you did not get a satisfactory explanation, then consult with other board certified plastic surgeons who can thoroughly evaluate you and provide you with options for surgery. I have performed BBL on many patients after gastric bypass procedures. Having had a gastric sleeve, in and of itself, should not preclude you from having a BBL.

Answer: Candidate for Surgery: Factors Dear Ms. Cchapman6,Thank you for your questions and photos.I understand your desires, however many factors are considered if you are a "safe" and "good" candidate for surgery. Other factors include your past medical history, medications you currently take/require and your BMI. Your BMI which according to your height and weight is over 35 which significantly increases your complication rate.I would work with your primary care physician, set a goals, loose weight and optimize your health and with his /hers clearance then make several consultative appointments with Plastic Surgeons who are experienced and Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. In addition ideally they are members of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (denoting by membership as having met additional criteria and a focus on Cosmetic Plastic Surgery).I wish you my best and success,R.
