Will I be able to wear a bikini after a full Tummy tuck ?

It's a great question. A tummy tuck incision should be placed as low as possible on the abdomen. This places the incision well below underwear and clothing. If there is a specific style of bikini that you like to wear, the incision lines can be tailored so that they lie under your bikini bottoms.Definitely express your goals to a board-certified plastic surgeon during your consultation.

Thank you for your question. This is a common concern with a tummy tuck. My answer is that it depends on your surgeon and your bikini. Most often the tummy tuck scar is kept low so that it can be concealed in a "normal" bikini or underwear. I would advise taking your bikini bottom to your surgeon and discussing this with him or her. They can inform you as to whether they think the scar will be well hidden. I think there is a high likelihood you will be pleased!Best of luck!

You should be able to wear a bikini, this will depend on your surgeon. Take a bikini bottom in with you to see your surgeon and see what he/she says. Look at before and after pictures of the surgeons patients to see where the incision has been placed. Good luck!

You should expect to have swelling for three to six months following tummy tuck surgery, however you should be ready for a bikini this summer.  Use of a properly fitted compression garment will help decrease the length and severity of the post-operative swelling. As the swelling decreases, the contour of your abdomen, flanks, and hips will dramatically improve. Please follow your plastic surgeons specific advice regarding your level of physical activity. Yes you should be able to wear a reasonable bikini after a tummy tuck. However you should make sure that you review and understand where your surgeon plans to put the scars. Surgeon's can place the scars in different places and some are better for bikinis than others. Also you will need to be reasonable with your choice of style. Skimpy bottoms might not work. Discuss the location and height of your incision with your surgeon.  All tummy tuck incisions should be kept low enough in order to hide it with a bikini.  Ask to see many post op photos of patients like you who have had a tummy tuck by your surgeon and look to see where is the incision in those patients.  Best wishes.
