I didn't have any raised or hardened area after. Every video I saw did!! I'm worried there was a problem with the application or the suction with her machine.

That is completely true. The new applicators from late 2016 are redesigned for better comfort and no longer produce that "butter" like effect. It is much more comfortable for the client and reduces the pain immediately following treatments with the massage. Rest assured your results should be fine and have nothing to do with "how" it looks right after the treatment. You found a center with the updated technology! Best of Luck.

Hi urbanhippy, good question. CoolSculpting released new applicators in late 2016, designed to be more effective and comfortable. Some of these require less suction and depth, and therefore do not produce the “stick of butter” effect of earlier applicators. It sounds like you’ve benefited from treatment with the newest device technology. 
Early results can be seen as soon as six weeks after treatment, and continue to develop over the course of three months. Be patient and don’t hesitate to reach out to your doctor if you have any questions. Enjoy your results!

all suction applicators form the "butter" stick if they have enough fat to do so.  flat panel applicators do not.  I suggest seeing an expert and adding vanquish/cellutone for more results.  Best, Dr. Emer.

it depends on lots of things but my experience is that the new ones make less frozen butter effect on the outside due to different applicator shape and less time that it is applied. 
Some people may have a bit but the cups are less deep.

and they provide a much less pronounced butter stick than the legacy applicators. This is a massive leap forward in technology as the clinical results are also better and treatments are quicker. So do not worry, and have faith in your practitioner. The system alerts the practitioner if there is a fault in vacuum pressure or cooling temperatures during the treatment.
