What's the difference between Embrace and Silicon Tape such as Mepitac?

Hello Pato.One clear difference is the results of Embrace Scar Prevention are much better than other treatments I have used in the past. Embrace is silicone with fibers that produce a significant reduction in the tension at the wound. When the product is applied correctly, the mechanical force reduction it produces will change the way the patient's DNA is expressed. Genes that create inflammation and fibrotic scarring are turned off and genes creating a more uniformed scar are turned on. No other product has been shown to change DNA expression. Embrace is much more than just silicone.  Imagine a pre-stretched silicone sheet that, once applied, uniformly alleviates all tension on the incision.  This down-regulates over 1000 genes to improve the quality of a scar.  Silicone just happens to be what it's made of, but make no mistake, it is the dynamics of the dressing that actually do the trick.
