Can I get the deposit refunded?

Question

I got a call from a cordinator and she told me the doctor I wanted was having a special, since I am in the middle of losing weight she couldn't take a $500 but would take a $300 just to hold that price for me. However I don't have a surgery date nor have I even spoken to the doctor, I would have been an out of Town patient and the reason I am canceling is because of some health issues and my doctor here in California said no surgery for me any time soon... can that "special deposit" be refunded?

your question.I would recommend that you read the information at the bottom of your surgery quote.  It should list the office's refund policy.  If for whatever reason, they won't refund your money, call them to explain your health situation and inquire how they can best accommodate you.

The best way
to assess and give true advice would be an in-person exam.

Dear Ms. Bootyy2016,Thank you for your questions. I hope your medical condition improves and you will eventually have the surgery you desire. I suggest you attain your goal weight and have a stable weight for 6 months, good health and a preoperative clearance prior to your chosen surgery.Each Plastic Surgeon has their own refund policies. Hopefully you understood them prior to giving your deposit.While there are many excellent surgeons in other states or counties  I would strongly advise to have your surgery within a reasonable (1 hour of driving distance) of your home.Why:1) pre and post operative appointments2)if you require airplane travels.... what happens if you have a intraoperative complication? It is not advised to fly for several days after surgery (prevention of blood clots).  What medical care is a is available?  Who pays if you required a air ambulance to be brought home.3)What if you need a revision?I suggest you make several appointments with experienced Plastic Surgeons who are within a reasonable driving distance from your home, have in office financing options and who are not only Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery but in addition ideally a member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (denoting by membership as having met additional criteria and a focus on Cosmetic Plastic Surgery).My best wishes, Dr. R. Whether your surgery deposit can be refunded is based on what you signed. Please look at your contract. In general, if there is a medical reason to ask for your refund, we will generally accommodate you. Your contract and your surgeon have the last call on this one.
