Dark spot after dermal fillers, is it a bruise or possible skin necrosis? (Photo)

About 6 days ago I had dermal fillers injected to my chin. I’m on NSAID and eat omega 3 supplements. The next day I noticed a blueish dark spot that’s still present 6 days later without any improvement. When I range my chin it forms a dent just the shape of the spot. It looks a lot like an acne scar. Could it be possible skin necrosis or is it just a bruise? The nurse who performed the injections told me it was just bruising, No pain or swelling except the first 1-2 days.

Hi, sorry you are experiencing a side effect from the procedure. Based on the pictures, it does appear to be a large bruise and the nsaids/omegas will definitely be culprits for that. Typically, skin necrosis from vascular compromise from filler being placed into a blood vessel is something we see clinically almost  immediately after the injection. You also would experience a lot of pain from it as well. I know you called your injector but I would see them in person to put you at ease and to confirm all is okay. In the future before you get any injections stop all fish oils, nsaids (if you can) up to a week prior. Also avoid caffeine, alcohol and take arnica to help prevent bruising.
