Can a CO2 laser reduce the size of a nose with overly thick skin? (photo)

Question

I planned on receiving a rhinoplasty on my large/ bulbous nose but have been told by several surgeons that the skin of my nose is too thick for a nose job to have any real noticeable effect. In lieu of a rhinoplasty, could a CO2 laser reduce the thickness of my nasal skin and thus reduce overall size of my nose?

CO2 laser treatments can help some patients with thick skin on their nose. However, I would need to examine you in person to determine whether this is the right approach for you. There are many options to sculpt a nose that has a rhinophyma, or enlargement of the oil glands that increase its size. That doesn’t appear to be exactly what you have going on, so seek an expert in your treatment. To ensure you are receiving the highest level of care, seek out a modernly trained, new-school dermatologic surgeon, oculoplastic surgeon, facial plastic surgeon or plastic surgeon who is board certified and fellowship trained in one of these “core four” cosmetic specialties.
