I am looking for a procedure to remove fat in my lower cheeks. I have circled the area that I want to address in one of the photos. I am 24 years old with a 20.2 BMI.

Thank you for your question and for providing photos. You appear to be a candidate for a buccal lipectomy to reduce fullness in the area of the face you’re referring to. By removing all or some of the buccal fat pads, the lower third portion of your face can be slenderized and your cheekbone and jawline contours can be more defined. Since buccal fat tissue is not regrown, the results of this removal are permanent. I recommend scheduling an in-person consultation with an experienced, board-certified facial plastic surgeon. They will be able to discuss your concern and aesthetic goals with you and determine the best treatment option to help you achieve them.

It can also help create more definition in the lower face depending on the overall bone and underlying tissue structure of the face. You appear to be a good candidate for buccal fat removal. This will decrease some of the fullness in your cheeks and above your jawline. You might also consider jawline liposculpting as well. This will give you better results than just buccal fat alone. These procedures are commonly done together, in office and under local anesthesia. Hello! Yes, buccal fat removal tends to work quite well at that spot. The procedure - as you may know - is performed through small incisions within the inside of the cheek in the mouth. The fat pad is gently teased out and the wound closed with dissolvable stitches. The result can create a subtle narrowing on front view but more prominent appearance on three-quarter view. Other than tenderness with chewing, the recovery is mild. I would seek consultation with a Facial Plastic Surgeon who performs this often to learn more. Hope this helps!
