No bruising or numbness after CoolSculpting, worried it wasn’t done correctly.

Question

I’ve had cool sculpting twice. The first time was for about an hour, after there was some bruising, numbness, and occasional needle prick like sensations which was expected. The 2nd time was the newer type of machine that only took 30 min, but no bruising, numbness or anything. Is that normal, or is there a possibility it was done incorrectly?

In addition to having shorter treatment times, the newer applicators also decrease the side effects, so it is not unusual to have little or no bruising or numbness after treatment with these newer applicators.

It is absolutely normal to have varying experiences with each CoolSculpting session, especially if your first treatment was done with an older machine and your second with a newer machine. New machines take half the treatment time of the old machines with less bruising, swelling and other common side effects. Therefore, I suggest you keep giving your body some more time to heal while your results continue to develop.

It is very common for patients to have varying experiences after their CoolSculpting treatment. Some patients may experience bruising, numbness and tenderness while others may have none of these symptoms. Additionally, the instances of these post treatment symptoms are dramatically reduced with the new 35 minute CoolAdvantage applicators. The good news is that there is not a correlation between post treatment tenderness, swelling, bruising etc. and the effectiveness of CoolSculpting in fat reduction. Most patients will begin to see results around the 6th week after treatment. Best of luck with your CoolSculpting results.

Thank you for your question,Everything you've experienced is normal. The newer applicators cut time in half and have less side effects yet it is just as effective. You should see a 25 percent fat reduction with each treatment, results vary from 8 - 20weeks.

The newer machine was designed to have less side effects yet it is just as effective.  Depending on the area being treated you may experience more side effects in one area versus the other.  If you were on the machine for the desired length of time 25% of those fat cells will be destroyed. In time you should see the difference.

Thanks for your question.  I am glad your treatment was comfortable.   In general, most patients notice some degree of numbness after the treatment for a little while.  However, the new cool advantage applicators are shorter duration of treatment time and more comfortable.  I recommend that you follow up with your office to evaluate your results.  In the end it takes 90 days to evaluate your results from the date of your last treatment.  It does take time to see results, but in well selected patients it works great.Best wishes
