These neck bands are part of a muscle called the platysma. They've always been there, they were just hidden by the previous fat. Now that the fat is gone, they appear more prominent. The simplest treatment would be to relax the muscles with botox. This will improve your appearance, but require ongoing injections. A more permanent solution would involve some surgery, which can be done under local anesthesia, excision of the bands, or suturing. Fat grafting may also be considered. Consult with your surgeon. I wish you the best.
The healing process in general can take up to one month for the majority of #swelling to subside, incisions to close, sutures to come out, and for bruising to completely go away.It is not uncommon to be experiencing some #lumps following neck and chin procedures. Some degree of firmness or lumpiness under the skin is normal after surgery and will resolve with time. Local #massage of the areas may accelerate the resolution of this problem, which normally takes 2-4 months to disappear completely. The lumps should diminish with time. If not, your doctor can provide suggestions for this concern. In-office medi-spa treatments may be an option. Your incisions will go through many changes before seeing the final result of your procedure. But, it's best to be patient in the meantime. If during your healing, you have any concerns, it is suggested to call your board-certified surgeon or their medical staff and discuss those #concerns.
Dear Alexandra67301,I would have to examine you but it appears that this is a contour irregularity after liposuction. This happens often when areas that undergo liposuction are not feathered appropriately. The good news is that it can be fixed and I have done so with good results before. The revision can often be done under local as well.Daniel Barrett, MD, MHA, MS Certified, American Board of Plastic Surgery Member, Am. Society of Plastic Surgery
Although this may relax and resolve over time, try having a Botox treatment prior to surgery. Platysmal bands are common and Botox is often an effective, non-invasive way to make them appear softer and less prominent.
This can happen, particularly if the patient is a bit on the slim side to start with. You may need a submentoplasty to address this. Look for a few board certified facial plastic surgeons to consult with.Chase Lay MD
This is the third time I've encountered patience with these bands after neck liposuction.I've had one patient develop these and you were the second patient on real self who has shown these platysmal bands. The responses from doctors very drastically in regards to what caused them and the treatment options.I do not believe these are simple platysmal bands that some people develop in older age which can be treated with Botox. They are generally firm and tight and did not have the resemblance of typical platysmal bands which are soft.My belief is they represent scar tissue which contracts. One possibility though I have no direct evidence to prove this is it could represent thrombophlebitis. This is a condition where a blood clot is formed in the rain causing and inflammatory response with the development of scar tissue you that can contract.I asked both of the previous patients who develop this to maintain contact with me so I could learn if these would resolve on their own.The patient's did not so I don't have experience and I have to say if these will resolve on their own.Personally I do not believe Botox, massage or revision liposuction will help your condition.I would definitely wait a minimum of six months before any type of surgical intervention. If the bands represent true scar tissue then and direct surgical excision through a small cut just a wreath your chin could possibly be an option. If these bands are from scar tissue then steroid injections could conceivably work.Continue following up with your doctor.I would also consider re-posting with the same question once a month to get more input from as many plastic surgeons as possible to see who has experienced patients with the same condition to see if there are viable options that have worked for them.Anyone who recommends a treatment option that they have not done this before is giving recommendations without true experience.Best of luck,Mats Hagstrom M.D.
Hi there and thank you for the photo. At 7 weeks post neck liposuction, the majority of the swelling has subsided. What you are experiencing could be pronounced platysma neck muscles that are more visible now with the removal of the overlying fat or it could be the result of contracted scar tissue from the procedure. In general, these band will resolve on their own within the first year after your procedure. I strongly recommend an in-person evaluation of your neck by your performing plastic surgeon for treatment options. I would also advise that you see your surgeon for regular follow-ups to monitor your healing progress and your results. Watch attached link for more information.

Yes, you can certainly undergo liposuction despite having Kybellla. Depending on the amount of laxity you are experiencing under the chin, #liposuction may certainly outlast non-surgical attempts. However, you need to consult with a board certified plastic surgeon to learn if you are an ideal...
