Best method for reducing genetic double chin? (Photos)

Question

I am wondering what steps can be taken to reduce a genetic double chin and also create a much more defined jaw line? I have had my double chin my entire life and it run in my family.

It's best to begin by consulting with a surgeon in-person to discuss your options. During your initial examination, your #chin will be evaluated along with the neck and jawline. A weak #chin implies a lack of chin support for the skin along the neck line. In younger individuals a chin implant alone is usually all that is needed to improve the appearance of the neck. Subsequently, it will also improve the overall #balance of the face and can create the illusion of a smaller nose. As a stand-alone procedure, chin augmentation can be performed in the office under local #anesthesia. For individuals with signs of #aging in the neck, a chin implant added to one of the recommended procedures above, will provide optimal results. Liposuction under the chin is also another option your doctor can discuss. If you are not a candidate for chin or neck rejuvenation at the time of your #consultation, your board certified plastic surgeon can recommend alternatives to address your concern. 
However, there may be additional options to improve the appearance of your concern to improve the overall balance of your face. Such can be best evaluated in-person. Consulting with a board-certified plastic surgeon who specializes in #face, #neck and #chin procedures is important to ensure you are receiving the best advice, care, and surgical experience possible.

Thank you for your question about a double chin.  There are several different procedures that would be beneficial to you.  The surgical option would be chin liposuction.  This would use suction to remove the fat.  The second and nonsurgical option would be Kybella.   Kybella is the first and only FDA-approved injectable treatment that physically destroys fat cells to improve the appearance of moderate to severe fat beneath the chin – also known as submental fullness or “double chin.” Once destroyed, those cells can no longer store or accumulate fat.
To be sure which treatment would be best for you, see two or more experienced, licensed and board-certified providers in your area for a complete evaluation to make sure you are a good candidate and that it is safe for you to have treatment. I hope this helps.

Chin liposuction can be an option, it makes you look younger and more
 attractive with a sharp jawline , and better facial proportions.It is 
important evaluate your pictures or a personal evaluation in order to

Liposuction of the chin/submental area is a great way to permanently spot reduce fat and improve the appearance of your neck and jawline.  Though liposuction will reduce the fat in your submental region, it could result in some loose skin in that area.  To combat this, I would recommend combining this with a procedure called NeckTite that uses radiofrequency to tighten skin at the same time as the liposuction. Consult with a board-certified plastic surgeon to see if you would be a great candidate for these procedures!

It is important to be at  your ideal body weight and have the diet resistant fat removed.  The photographs demonstrate a weak and recessive chin profile for which a chin implant can improve the projection of the mandible which would also be complementary to improvement of the jawline.  The fatty deposits in the neck are located both above and below the platysma muscle in the neck.  This improvement requires a neck lift procedure and  a  platysma plasty.  No skin removal is necessary as long as the skin tone is adequate.  For many examples and more information, please see the  link and the video below

From your photos.. It appears that you are a good candidate for liposuction of your chin.  This is the best solution for your problem.
You also have a receding chin and this needs projection for the proper balance of your face.  Yu can either use a chin implant or Fat Transfer.
I prefer Fat Transfer because it is your own tissue and ages with you.  It is also permanent and natural.  A chin implant can shift and there are other possible complications that can occur.

Looking at your photos there is a simple correction and the fact that you have had this appearance your whole life is irrelavent. You need two things for a much nicer profile and submental area. First you need proper liposuction to remove ONLY the excess fat and no more. Second you need a post-auricular necklift to tighten and elevate your excess neck skin and tissues. This is the back half of a facelift and without doing this any liposuction will leave you with hanging skin. A chin implant may be suggested but it is not the way to go here because it will deepen the crease below your lip and give your mentum way too much promenance. Removing the excess fat and elevating your neck skin will give you a fantastic look. I do all this with oral sedation and local anesthesia injections safely, easily and almost painlessly in 90 minutes in my office operating room

Hi, I have performed many facial shaping procedures, including Chin Augmentation with dermal fillers or silastic chin implants, for over 30 years.  From the photos you have combination of a very weak chin along with excess fat and skin under the chin and across the neck.  When the chin is weak, this creates an imbalance making the nose appear larger, the mid face top heavy, the lower face looks short, de-emphasizes the lips and allows early formation of a "double chin".  This is accentuated by the accumulation of excess fat and skin under the chin.
 Proper placement of a silastic chin implant adds forward projection to the chin thereby creating harmony and balance to the lower face.  Using the same incision, liposuction can be performed to reduce the fat and further shape the neck.  Excess skin, from below the chin, can also be removed through the same incision.  
 I have found that placement of a silastic chin implant, through a small curved incision under the chin (also allows excess skin removal) to be very safe, quick, highly effective and far less invasive than a sliding genioplasty (requires extensive tissue dissection, bone cuts and placement of metal screws and plates to secure the cut segments of bone).  I perform chin implant surgery in 30 minutes or less, often using a local anesthetic alone.  In my opinion, you are a good candidate for chin implant surgery combined with liposuction of the neck and skin removal using the same incision used for chin implant placement.
