Follow-up: Will an alarplasty make my wide nose look better? (Photos)

Hello, thank you for sharing your question and photos. You have more healing to do before you'll see the final results from the procedures you had. If you're unhappy at that point, you'll need a revision rhinoplasty. An alarplasty, or nose reduction only addresses flared noses, narrowing and reducing nostril width to be more proportionate with the rest of the face. For a more in-depth opinion, I recommend visiting a board-certified facial plastic surgeon that specializes in revision rhinoplasty.

To soon to tell after short time, but it is true your nose seems broad probably because the surgeon did not perform osteotomies, this makes me think when the swelling subsides you'll develop either open roof or inverted V deformities, or both.No, alarplasty is not your solution, you'll need a full blown revision rhinoplaty.Seek the advice and hands of a serious professional who offers to you a time-consuming and expensive procedure; stay far from minimally invassive snake-charming procedures, synthetic implants, fillers, wrapped diced cartilage, etc.

 Probably best to wait at least 6 to 9 months before making a determination about narrowing the nostrils with an alar-plasty, since there's still swelling in the nose. An alar-plasty simply narrows wide nostrils, that's it.

An alarplasty can be done to narrow the nasal base but I don't think that will improve your nose; that procedure will not  make your nose look more "upturned". However it is impossible to evaluate your surgical result jut 3 months after surgery. Wait another 6-7 months before evaluating your nose; it will change as healing progresses.

Dear Mrc111, I agree that your nose looks very wide at this time however you are very soon in the recovery phase and will need to wait to see what is swelling. The alar base does not need reduction and would only make your nose look wider.
