Question

Are there any surgeons that charge $6,000 or less in the L.A. area? Would getting a rhino done by a resident doctor in Santa Monica be a good idea? I'm mostly looking to get rid of the hump and narrowing the tip and nositrils slightly.

Hello,
There are many different surgeons in LA that all range in pricing depending on who they are and what procedures you desire. The best advise I have to give is to find a doctor that has the same artistic vision of what you want your nose and face to look like. This will eliminate the chances of a revision surgery. Be patient, and find the doctor that best meets your needs!
When it comes time to find a doctor make sure he/she is a board certified facial plastic surgeon who specializes in scarless closed rhinoplasty as 100% of their practice.

Dear CaliiGal26,Thank you for your question and photo. You would be a great candidate for rhinoplasty. In terms of cost, rhinoplasty varies based on location and doctor. I would base your surgeon on quality instead of the cost as mentioned in the previous posts, you get what you pay for. If you are unhappy with the results, you will end up paying a lot more money for revision rhinoplasty if it is even possible. Im sure you can find someone to do it for a low price. Then again, you get what you pay for and it is your face! Save your money and have it done when you can afford an excellent surgeon--the cost of fixing poor work is extremely high if possible at all. Wish I had better news for you.

I would recommend you to find a plastic surgeon with experience in rhinoplasty to get the best results. You can visit your local plastic surgery offices to check the prices. Usually the cost of a surgery depends on a lot of factors (type of surgery, surgeon, anesthesia, facility fee, city where the surgery is performed).

A rhinoplasty in the LA area will most likely cost more than your price range.  I think it may be a good idea for you to seek a great surgeon, not the best price.  Rhinoplasty is one of the most difficult surgeries of the face; you would want to go to someone with knowledge and experience.  Good luck!

it is possible to undergo a rhinoplasty procedure by one of the residents  at a teaching hospital/ institution, but it's  even more important that the staff member teaching the resident is involved in the case and is there throughout the surgery to manage the surgical procedure. The cost of a rhinoplasty is directly related to the fees charged for operating room, surgeon, and anesthesia. Save your money! Although I was a resident at some point (and did noses) and so have all surgeons...rhinoplasty is never a chip shot. It is THE most difficult plastic surgery of all plastic surgeries anywhere on the body. A primary nose will go for between 7-13K typically. If you don't get what you were looking for the first time then a revision is VERY VERY much more challenging (reserved for rhinoplasty specialists only) and can be double the cost. I would think twice before going by price. Finances are a real issue but it is worth putting it off a couple of years to be able to have someone do it who has done at bare minimum 100 noses, optimally many, many more.
Visiting with surgeons who are trained in both ENT and Facial Plastic Surgery will help you ensure that the surgeon you choose has many years of training operating on both the inside and the outside of the nose--so that you end up looking AND breathing great. It's very important not to compromise on either. I recommend consulting with a minimum of 3 different surgeons to determine whom you get along with best and with whom you feel most comfortable. Rhinoplasty is a journey and you want to be sure your surgeon will guide you through it and be there for you every step of the way.
