6 weeks ago I got a BBL. I had cellulite but now I have a lot more. Is this normal? Will it go away?
Answer: Will the increase in cellulite 6 weeks post-op my BBL go away? Hello dear!! Thanks for the question and provided information as well. You are still early on the healing process, it can take up to six months to see your final results, so please be patient. At the stage you are in, irregularities are normal. If you have any concerns, please follow up close with your plastic surgeon. Good luck :)

Answer: Increased cellulite after BBL I'm going to assume you're talking about your buttocks or the area that had fat transfer not the area where you got liposuction. Liposuction generally does not make cellulite worse but it can cause skin irregularities especially when done poorly. Cellulite is caused by connective tissue bands that anchor the skin to the underlying muscle fascia. These bands have a certain length and downs stretch very much. Because the distance these bands are at is set adding volume in the fatty plan between the skin and muscle can cause series of indentations. Skin that tolerates high pressure like the sitting part of the buttocks, palm of the hand soles of the feet etc. have much more of this connective tissue. When volume is added cellulite sometimes forms or is made worse. This can happen from weight gain or fat transfer. At six weeks your results are getting close to final. You may have some further loss of BBL volume which will lessen the results but potentially improve your cellulite. at this point I would not expect large changes with time. One treatment option is to treat cellulite by cutting these bands through a process called subscission. There's a device called Celfina that helps doctors do this. Personally I believe this treatment in conjunction with conservative fat transfer can give the best results. Simply cutting the bands leads to scar tissue which overtime contracts causing the cellulite to return. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
