BBL and TT 4 weeks ago, how long will it take for my wound to close with a wound vac? (photos)

Question

I had a tummy tuck lipo & bbl procedure done 4 weeks ago. 2 weeks later I had a staph infection which was due to necrosis. My surgeon opened me back up and removed the infected area. I have been cleaning my wound daily & my surgeon has been cleaning it every 3 days. Now he is saying it is clean. There is no more smell & I am taking the proper antibiotics. My surgeon is saying we can go ahead & close the wound. Should we close?

Dear Earlfleming01,
I'm sorry to hear about your complications. Based on your photos, it looks like you have a big wound separation which should be watched closely. This type of wound separation can occur and in most cases it is caused by increased tension on wound edges or infection. In most cases, plastic surgeons decide to leave the wound open and clean it daily until it closes. I suggest you to discuss your concerns with your plastic surgeon.
