How long can I sit for after I’ve waited 8 weeks from my BBL surgery?

Question

I sat for the first time in 8 weeks after my bbl surgery. How long am I allowed to sit for, an hour 2 hours? Or does it even matter? Is there a certain time frame I should only be sitting for after the 8 week period? I don’t want to cause any damage.

Thank you for your question! For my patients having a bbl, I recommend they stay off of their buttocks completely for the first 10 days post op, then start using the bbl pillow for the following 3 weeks. At 6 weeks post op, they have no sitting restrictions. Best of luck!

The most accurate answer will be provided by the plastic surgeon who performed your BBL.
I recommend that my patients minimize sitting, even with a pillow, for the first two weeks.  If they must sit, every 30 minutes or an hour, they should get up and stand for a few seconds to take the pressure off.   This reduces the chance for fat necrosis. I usually recommend about 6 weeks before sitting without a pillow. After 6 weeks the fat has revascularized, and patients will have a very good idea of their final results.

We suggest our patients to avoid sitting on grafted area longer than 30 min. at a time for 6-8 months. Using an inflatable swimming tube and special pillows will help. Sleeping on the back is fine. However, every surgeon may have slightly different protocol and in every person survival of fat grafts is individual and for that reason unpredictable. Good luck.

Thank you for your question. At 8 weeks you shouldn't have any issue to sit for long periods of time. The pressure caused by sitting is not sufficient to affect viability of the fat cells .

I recommend my patients not to sit for more than 30 mins. every two hours, for the first 2 weeks. At week 8, sitting for longer periods should not damage your results. If you have any concerns, I suggest you to follow up close with your plastic surgeon.
