375cc or 400cc? And will a BA heal in 2 months? (Photos)

It is very difficult to determine the exact size and shape implant you will require to best match your ideal breast image without an examination by a board certified plastic surgeon. Not just any board certified plastic surgeon, but one with many years of frequently performing breast augmentation surgery including different approaches, techniques and implant choices. This is because several measurements not to mention your breast characteristics are needed to determine the optimal implant size to obtain your goals. Without knowing these dimensions it would be difficult to make this determination. For example, the existing base width of your breast will determine, in many cases, the maximal volume per implant profile that you can accommodate. To illustrate; a 100 cc difference may make a significant difference with a narrow base width breast, but much less of a difference if you have a wide chest wall and wide breast “foot print”. Therefore, just because your friend may have a great result with let’s say a 350 cc implant to make her go from a “A” cup to a “C” cup size does not mean that you will have the same result with the same size implant. . Further simply placing implants in a bra to determine the size best for you is not always accurate as the bra often distorts the size, is dependent on the pressure the bra places plus the implant is outside your breast and not under it among other variables. Computer software morphing programs that automatically determine the best implant size can be helpful in some but not all cases (e.g. doesn’t work well in my experience with existing implants, sagging or asymmetric breasts). Using “want to be” photos however are useful if simply provided to the surgeon as I will further explain in the below link

Thank you for your question. There is no way to predict bra size after implants. The best thing to do is try on sizers with your Board Certified Plastic surgeon and go with what you like. Also, your surgeon should take measurements to make sure implant selection stays within your natural breast measurements. There is not a significant difference between 375cc and 400cc. Breast argumentation Will heal and you will be ready to go by your dates however it does matter where the implant is placed. I suggest you have a subfascial breast augmentation to heal faster and also not worry about the implant dropping. I think you are a nice candidate and will have a very natural and nice result.

The size of implant best for you is dictated by your
chest wall measurements. Once we determine that we can choose the profile
based on what you want or need to achieve.  If you are seeking a natural look, then the diameter of the implant should be equal to or, more ideally, smaller than the width of your breast. The breast width is a measurement of how wide your breast is at the base, which should be measured at the level of the nipple. Choosing an implant that is smaller in diameter than your breast width will avoid the "side breast" fullness that is often associated with a more artificial appearance. Other than that, you should choose the implant based on volume, not on the dimensions of the implant. You should choose a board certified plastic surgeon that you trust to help guide you in this decision.

Silicone will give you a fullness at the
top (upper pole fullness).

Silicone implants come pre-filled with a
silicone gel and are the softest implant available. They feel more natural,
which makes them a good option for women with less natural breast tissue; but
they require a larger incision. It may be more difficult to realize if this
type of implant has ruptured, so it is important to monitor them with annual
follow-up visits. Additionally, because this implant contains a more liquid
silicone (less cross-linked), if this implant should rupture, it will leak only
into the scar capsule formed around the implant but may cause some discomfort
or implant distortion.

Anatomic gummy bear implants might be a
good choice to give you volume.

These highly-sought-after, anatomic
implants offer a look that more closely resembles the natural silhouette of a
breast, and, therefore, are a very attractive option for individuals seeking a
natural-looking, aesthetic primary breast augmentation. Additionally, these
implants are an especially excellent option for patients undergoing restorative
or corrective breast surgery because they provide more stability, shape, and
reduced incidence of capsular contracture. Compared to other types of silicone
gel implants, the silicone in the cohesive gel implant is more cross-linked;
therefore, should the implant shell “rupture,” it maintains its shape and
silicone does not leak.

During your breast augmentation
consultation, you should feel the different types of implants available, and
try on various implant sizers in front of a mirror to help you to get an idea
of how you will look following the surgery. You should also bring pictures of
the look you would like to achieve, as well as a favorite top to wear when
trying on implant sizers.

Hello,Very little difference between 375 and 400.No surgeon can guarantee a cup size, even after examination. There is no reliable or reproducible formula to equate implant volume to bra cup sizes, even though sometimes my colleagues mention such a thing.Goal photos aren't helpful either; comparing what you see in the photo with what you see in the mirror after surgery may be different than what others see.The best way to determine what implant size would reach your goal is to perform in office sizing so that you can see what you look like in the mirror real time prior to surgery. You probably won't be completely dropped and fluffed, but you should look great regardless in 2 months.Best of luck.

and my patients are always told to go with the larger size and none have regretted it.  As for Hawaii, you should be at a good enough point for bikinis but there is always the what ifs that you have to be prepared for so have a plan B in case you are not bikini ready by then.  You will have a good idea s you heal and if your upper poles stay level,  I would anticipate you will be fine and won't need any plan B.

Hello Dana05,Thanks for your questions and photos.  Let me try to answer your questions in the order you asked them:1.  375 or 400 cc?  The size difference will be negligible between these 2 implants.  400 cc is approximately 6% bigger than 375 cc's.  I would trust your surgeon to make the right choice for you after having an in-depth discussion with them about exactly what look you are desiring and after reviewing many before and after photos to find results similar to what you want.2.  Will a breast augmentation heal in 2 months?  The short answer is yes, though your scar will take up to 1 year to fully mature.  My typical patient feels reasonably well after 2-3 days (off narcotic pain meds except at night for sleep). Most patients do reasonable well returning to work after this period of time also, as long as: 1. their work is not physically demanding, and 2. you take it easy, and don't do anything overly strenuous. Many of my patients have returned to a desk-type job on Monday or Tuesday after a breast augmentation on Thursday or Friday. I recommend taking Tylenol and Ibuprofen for soreness and icing frequently. Usually you can be back to light, lower body, non-impact exercise (stationary bike or legs-only eliptical) within 10 days to 2 weeks after your breast augmentation.  Increasing intensity and range of motion weekly, you should be back to the same level of activity and exercise you were doing on the day before your procedure within 4-5 weeks following your breast augmentation.  You should be looking and feeling great for your trip at the end of July.Best wishes!Dr. Brown

Thanks for your question and pictures.  I would tend to lean more towards the smaller implant 375cc but 25cc difference between implant sizes is very minimal. The surgeon can use sizers during surgery to see which implant volume is best for you.  I would say giving yourself two months to settle is reasonable although since most of my patients settle/drop into the pocket within the first two weeks.  However that being said every situation is different.  Two months appears to be a reasonable goal though. The difference between the two implant sizes is not significant. Allow  your PS  to consider using  sizers for your surgery and allow him/her to advise you  what size  is adequate for  D cup breast. The smaller the patient and the larger the implant, the greater the length of time  for the  muscle (submuscular augmentation ) to stretch.  Implant  volume and implant width  should be proportional to your  breast width. Generally, the  implants drop to a natural appearance  in  2-3 months. !
