What could this puffiness and darkness be 10 weeks after Botox? (Photos)

Question

10 weeks post Botox to glabellar area 5 points. (18 units) still having puffy lower eyelids and darkness. I had Botox injected April 1. April 2 woke up to swollen eyes, especially lower eyelids. Took benadryl, 5 days of prensione, allergy medicine (even though i didn't have allergies). Finally had blood drawn at doctors office all came back normal. Went to eye doctor and eyes are all good. What could it be? Seems a little better as time passes could this be from the Botox?

It would be highly unusual for Botox injections to cause significant swelling and darkness under the eyes, especially 10 weeks out.  If in fact your concerns are caused by the Botox, the good news is that it will wear off.  If you are concerned, however, I would make an appointment with your injector to discuss your issues.

It would be very unusual for Botox to cause puffiness and darkness under the eyes based on where your injections were placed. If your doctors have checked you out and determined there is no cause of significant concern, I suggest waiting out the Botox. This medication subsides within three to four months. If the puffiness and darkness are at all associated with the treatment, you should begin to see improvement in this area as well. 
Always work with an experienced Botox injector, preferably a board-certified dermatologist, to ensure your procedures are both safe and effective. While Botox is a common procedure, it does require precision and expertise to perform correctly.

Dear mia_bella12,Thank you for your question. If you had significant swelling or bruising from the Botox injection (which is atypical), then it may be a side effect of the injection. Thank you for your question, Botox results last up to 3 to 4 months and can be softened with Venus Legacy and Thermage treatments. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a cosmetic dermatologist. Best, Dr. Emer

While I have not heard of Botox in the glabellar area causing puffiness on the lower eyelids.  However, it is difficult to determine the cause without an in-person consultation to look over the swelling, which you may consider scheduling with your provider.  Botox tends to wear off in 3-4 months, so if Botox is the cause of the puffiness it will recede with time and dissapear completely in that time frame.

Hello and thank you for your question and photo's.  I've never heard of dark circles and puffyness at lower lids from injections to glabella, however, I have seen puffyness to upper lids after treatment.  Botox will be out of your muscles at 3-4 months , if it somehow caused this , it should be gone at that point.

I'm sorry you are having issues from your Botox treatment.  Botox wears off gradually over 3 to 4 months, so you should continue to see improvement with time.  I encourage you to return to your injector for an evaluation to prevent this in future treatments.
