How deep must Botox be injected for masseture reduction?

Botox treatments require precision in needle placement to ensure an optimal outcome. I would wait at least 4 weeks after your treatment since this is how long it typically takes for Botox to take full effect in the masseter muscle. If you do not see sufficient correction at that point, schedule a follow-up treatment with your injector to see if additional injections are needed. Always work with an expert Botox injector who is also a board-certified dermatologist to ensure your results are consistently positive. 

Thank you for your question! I inject into the belly of this muscle with a three point injection technique as this muscle is extremely strong. I would revisit your provider after two weeks from the date you received your injection if you don't receive your desired outcome. Best of luck to you!

Generally Botox should be injected into the muscle belly which is not superficial. My advice is to wait 2 weeks for the effects and top up if necessary 

The masseter muscle is deeper, thicker, and stronger than the other muscles of the face which are injected for wrinkles. It requires more units and must be placed deeper into the belly of the muscle to be most effective. You will be able to assess your results within 2 weeks. If you have questions  or if the treatment is less effective I would return to your injector for evaluation. Best wishes.

The Botox must be injected right into the Masseter muscle on each side. If the needle is not well into the muscle mass the results will be unsatisfactory. 

Botox should be injected directly into the muscle for maximum effect.  If you are not noticing the usual results you enjoy from Botox treatments I encourage you to return to your injector for an evaluation.

Thanks for the question, Sophie. Because Botox acts on the nerve endings within the muscle itself, it will be most effective when deposited directly into the substance of the muscle. Due to the thickness of the overlying tissues in this area, the needle is advanced deeper than is typically needed elsewhere on the face. I usually inject a total of 25-40 units through 3 separate injection points for each masseter. I would allow two weeks for the Botox to take effect and, if you still have concerns at that point, I would make a follow-up appointment with your doctor.

Thank you for your question Sophie! To reduce the master muscle the Botox has to be injected deep into the muscle. I usually ask my patients to clench their teeth and I mark 2-3 points on each side where I inject deeply into the muscle. If you are concerned regarding your treatment you should schedule a follow-up appointment with you doctor after two weeks. 

As Botox works by impacting the normal functioning of your muscle, the Botox must be injected into the muscle.   I would recommend waiting two weeks for the full results from your Botox.  If, at that point, you still have concerns, then I would recommend scheduling a follow up visit with your provider to go over your results.
