How Long Will It Take for my Skin to Return to Normal from Kenalog Injections?

Discoloration and an indentation is starting to form in the area along my tt incision. How long does it take to return to normal? Should I stop getting these injections? I don't want any more side effects. My scar is starting to lay flatter. I've been receiving these injections once per month since I was 12 weeks po. I'm now 6 1/2 months po.

There are three main side effects of Kenalog injections so the use of kenalog must always outweigh the problems

	
		Thinning of the skin
	
		Atrophy of the subcutaneous tissue
	
		Spider vein formation


	If you scar is flat then I would stop the Kenalog as some of your problems are irreversible.

Actually some of the thinning and indentation from Kenalog can be permanent and most will use it with caution. Probably is time to stop.

If the scar has flattened and is getting indented, I would probably not encourage any more kenalog injections. Most surgeons do the injections in a series of 3, and that sounds like what you have gotten. Results can take several months.
