Does microneedling/PRP plump the face or does it just build collagen that works on the skin quality?

Microneedling and PRP are meant to improve skin quality, not add volume...other than some early post-procedure swelling which goes away.

Morpheus 8 is a non-invasive skin and soft tissue tightening treatment that is consistently amazing in our patients. We use the Morpheus to exact fractional induced RF into the skin or tissue in order to tighten collagen and stimulate contraction of the tissue. For acne scars, it is quite useful to build collagen in patients who have atrophic scars but is not very productive for ice-pick scars which require TCA Cross. For tissue tightening, Morpheus is ideal for the face and neck and we often combine it with CO2 laser or Ultherapy to further enhance results. Chemical peels and skin resurfacing should be done at least 5 to 7 days after, but can be performed earlier, depending on treatment severity. Avoid exfoliating skin treatments before Morpheus and expect a period of 2-4 weeks for skin contraction to set in.

Thank you for your question. PRP helps improve skin quality and texture. The "plumping" effect that most patients report is really just a reduction in fine lines and wrinkles with improved overall texture. The procedure does not actually increase the volume in the face.

Hello! Microneedling with PRP is fabulous for texture & laxity improvement so I believe you’re looking into a great treatment option. When they say “plump” when describing microneedling benefits, it describes the collagen & elastin boost triggered by the treatment.  So the “plumping” doesn’t necessarily mean an added VOLUME to the face, but rather a regeneration of lost laxity that has been compromised with acne scarring, wrinkles, pores, etc. More like a ‘plump’ appearance in the texture (like the surface of a smooth ball), not an addition of volume to the face.

This boosts collagen production at a cellular level, which improves the texture and tone of the skin. It does not increase facial volume. In my office, I offer RF microneedling, which combines gentle radiofrequency heating with the microneedling process to further enhance results. Microneedling is a wonderful procedure for open pores, fine lines and wrinkles. It gives better color and texture. Adding PRP helps the skin attain more elastin and improves collagen. For more volume have your provider add filler with PRP (the Vampire Facelift)  that will give you more fullness with better color and texture.
