How do I ice without getting cast wet?

Rhinoplasty is a surgery to improve the shape of the nose for breathing or appearance. During the recovery period you will be instructed to take care of your nose to improve the chance of a good result.Using ice is recommended to improve the immediate swelling. This will help in the first 48 hours. After that, it's only for comfort. The goal is to cool the face, not freeze it. You can wrap the bag of ice/frozen peas/cold pack in a towel to keep your cast from getting wet. Never sleep with an icepack on your face. Many casts will fall off if they get wet, so avoid hot baths too. If you have any questions about your postoperative instructions, talk to your surgeon. Thanks for your question. Congrats on getting your nose done! It depends on the type of cast. The ones I use are padded metal splints that I put on your nose after putting down some tape. I don't care if the cast gets wet, but I don't really want the tape to get wet because it can peel off. Other kinds of casts are made of plastic that is heated and placed on your skin after some adhesive. If your doc doesn't want your cast getting wet, you can try putting the frozen peas into a plastic bag or wrap it in a paper towel that can easily be replaced when it gets moist.
