Good question. There really are not many cons to using nasal saline spray, other than possible disruption of sutures (depending on what suture material was used. Also, if there was extensive nasal work performed, you may disrupt the architecture with the pressure from the spray - so sometimes some docs may not like you to use it for that reason. Otherwise, saline spray helps clean the nose after surgery by promoting muco-ciliary clearance. It softens up crusting intra-nasally, and allows you to breath better, faster. I personally like it and have my patients start on nasal saline on day 2. Everyone has a different method - ask your docs during consultations about their particular regimens.
