Urgent - can Motiva implants ever come without the chip?

At our office we're only using motiva implants without the chip as the chip technology is new. If you have concerns about the study, reach back out to your surgeon's office, review the informed consent, or check out their official website for US trials to answer any questions. The way to garuntee that you are getting Motiva implants would be to check on the US trial motiva website to make sure your surgeon is listed as a participating surgeon in the trial.

Hi thank you for your question.Yes there are Motiva implants that come without an identification chip but they should still come with identification stickers (which you should be given copies of) so you can register for the same Motiva guarantee as any other of their implants.Best wishes

Motiva make implants both with and without the information chip within them - without the chip is cheaper. The quality of the implants are no different. The advantage of having the chip is that your implant can be scanned by the surgeon in clinic with a small handheld device, providing the information about your implant there and then. Although all patients should be given a card/book with your implant details in it after your surgery for you to keep for future reference, a lot of patients ultimately lose this record and then have no idea what implants they have when asked years later. Medical records in the U.K. only have to be kept for a period of around five years so often you return to the clinic/hospital that provided your surgery and they no longer have records. When an incident such as the P.I.P. scandal hit back in around 2011, there were thousands of females here in the U.K. that had no idea if they had these implants in or not, leading to understandable anxiety. As a result the U.K. has set up an national implant database whereby, if the patient consents for their information to be shared with and stored on the registry, should a similar scandal to the P.I.P. occur or should there be a product recall of a certain batch of a manufacturer's implants, then those on the registry can be notified and anxiety reduced for all the others. The Chip within the range of Motiva implants that contain the chip (designated 'Q') can simply have their breasts scanned and get an instant answer - hence it is groundbreaking technology with the added advantage that the chip is FDA approved.
Rest assured, if you have a Motiva implants, be it with or without the chip, you will have nothing to worry about.
