What is the difference between nasal tip plasty verse Alarplasty? An alar plasty is merely a narrowing of the nostrils at their base where they meet the face. A nasal tip plasty is a general term which includes multiple procedures which can be done separately or together to change various aspects of the nasal tip, such as it’s width, shape, and rotation. The rotation of the tip determines the angle that the tip makes with the upper lip. A “droopy“ tip means that the angle is less than 90°. A 90° angle points straight out from the face, and an angle above 90° results when the tip points slightly upward. Correction of a droopy tip would involve surgery on the tip which is a tip plasty. A tip plasty can be done alone or in conjunction with work on the bridge, such as surgery to remove a dorsal hump. Nasal tip plasty combined with work on the bridge constitutes a “rhinoplasty“. a nasal tip plastic or rhinoplasty can also be done in conjunction with reduction of the national base which is an alar plasty.
The axis of your nostrils is up and back rather than anterior-posterior. An alarplasty would lower the back part of your nostrils to make them mare anterior-posterior. It's just a matter of preference!

Performing these two procedures together is an excellent way to accomplish two goals at one surgery! By bringing in less lip upward into the liplift excision, you can accomplish both goals!
