My nose is still swollen 8 weeks after a rasping. Is this normal?

I had a very thin nose with a hump on it. The doctor pretty much rasped the hump down to a straight line and the sides and no tip work. My nose is straighter yes but it lacks definition and feels like a blob. When I look at old pictures my nose was so sharp, thin and straight from the front.. He says its still swollen but it was a rasping with no breaking and its been 8 weeks. I;m freaking out right now. Please help

Figii,In the procedure you received, while no bones may have been broken, there was still a tremendous amount of trauma done to the body. Therefore, swelling and bruising is bound to occur and persist until you are completely healed. For 90% of healing to occur, I recommend you wait at least 9 months for more accurate results.Hope this helps!Dr. Ali Sajjadian

In a patient undergoing rhinoplasty with dorsal rasp hump reduction, even without nasal tip work or osteotomies, nasal swelling can persist up to a year. Be patient and have frequent follow up with your surgeon for at least one year after your surgery.

Hi Figii, it is important to recognize that, while 8 weeks seems like a long time, with respect to rhinoplasty healing, you are still early in the healing stages. I would try and be as patient as you can and allow the healing to progress. My guess is that, given time, the contour will return.
