Hi there, I’m almost 3 weeks post-op, I had 360 lipo with 1850 cc transfered to each side of my hips & bum. When would it be safe to start wearing my stage 2 faja? I’ve tried it on and it seems to compress considerably my hips and I’m afraid to not lose anymore of the transfered fat in the area, because of wearing it:( Thank you❤️
Answer: When is it safe to start wearing high compression faja after BBL? Thanks for your question. It's best to follow your surgeons specific advice post-operatively. I have my patients wear a compression garment (faja) covering all treated 24/7 except to shower for 4 weeks post op. This helps ontrol swelling as the compression on your tissues helps your body to reabsorb the edema fluid that accumulates in the tissues after any procedure. This can take quite some time to happen without help from the compression garments. It also helps improve contour. Compression helps to keep the tissues adherent to the underlying structures while healing, this can help prevent the wrinkled skin appearance that can happen when the tissues heal in ways we don't want them to.

Answer: CONSULT WITH YOUR PLASTIC SURGEON ABOUT YOUR PARTICULAR NEEDS AND CONCERNS. Hello MissDeLourdes, It’s a pleasure to answer your questions! Every patient is unique and plastic surgeons have different post-operative protocols, customized for every patient, to achieve the best results. Based on my experience, wearing post-surgical specialized compression garments, immediately after the surgery, is an essential measure for speeding up patients’ recovery. I typically suggest my patients obtaining their specialized compression garments (2 of them) and one foam corset prior to the Brazilian Butt Lift surgery (BBL) so that they won’t have to worry about getting them after the procedure. I usually suggest them wearing the foam corset up to 8 weeks and the compression garments for 6 months, around the clock. These specially designed garments are fundamental in helping controlling swelling, bruising and also with contouring by preventing wrinkling of the skin and enhancing skin retraction. I recommend my patients switching to smaller/tighter garments as days go by and they get a smaller, beautifully sculpted figure after BBL. It’s always best to discuss with your plastic surgeon about the type of garment, size and wearing time that fits best your specific needs. Best wishes! Dr. De La Cruz.

Answer: When is it safe to start wearing high compression faja after BBL? The compression garment varies with the plastic surgeon. I do not recommend a garment or faja that is extremely tight over the buttocks. I typically ask patients to use adjustable garments with multiple bands so that tension can be adjusted and the areas of liposuction are less likely to get a fluid collection. The garments typically do not cover the buttocks. The key here is the size and the ability to tighten the garment, not the brand or make. In my practice, the compression garments are provided as part of the BBL post op package. Kenneth Hughes, MD, ABPS Board Certified Plastic Surgeon Los Angeles, CA

Answer: Post-surgical garmet recommendations are best made by the operating surgeon Hello and thank you for your question. I always tell patients to ask their surgeon what their preference is for type of garment and timing of when and how often it is worn because they have the best idea of the patient's anatomy, health, the surgery and/or concomitant procedures performed, and best course of action for optimal recovery. I hope this helps and best of luck to you.Sincerely,Dr. Sean Kelishadi

Answer: When is it safe to start wearing high compression faja after BBL? Hello dear!! Thanks for the question and provided information as well. I suggest my patients to use a full body compression garment right after surgery, 24/7 for the first 3 months, and after that, for 12 hours a day for 3 more months, to get the best results. It is important for the compression garment to be very tight, for it to help with the swelling, after surgery. Please, follow up close with your plastic surgeon. Good luck :)
