Answer: Breast Augmentation with Pre-existing Health Condition Hi nikkijaye, I understand your concern. Before you can undergo any surgery, you will be required a medical clearance from your primary health care provider and your hematologists. You should also consult a board certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations. Answer: Breast lift Thank you nikkijaye for your question. I do believe that you could potentially have your Breast lift procedure. Your surgeon will probably require medical clearance through your primary care, hematologist and possibly be done in the hospital. I recommend your have a in office consultation with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon to discuss your options and protocol. Congratulations on the weight loss and best of luck on your future surgery.

Answer: Breast lift Hello and thank you for your question. The best advice you can receive is from an in-person consultation. It would be very important to work with your hematologist to ensure a safe protocol for your medication management is planned prior to surgery. Make sure you specifically look at before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgery performed by your surgeon and evaluate their results. The most important aspect is to find a surgeon you are comfortable with. I recommend that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified plastic surgeon who can evaluate you in person. Best wishes and good luck. Richard G. Reish, M.D. FACS Harvard-trained plastic surgeon

Answer: Breast surgery and warfarin Hello and thank you for the question. I believe it's possible for you to have an elective breast surgery. I would start by consulting a qualified plastic surgeon. Your surgeon will likely consult with your hematologist to adjust your peri-operative management (which could involve switching warfarin to another short-acting blood thinner a few days before the surgery and then re-starting you back on warfarin a few days after surgery). It's best that you discuss these with your hematologist and your surgeon and let them coordinate your care. Best, Pejman Aflaki, M.D. Johns Hopkins-trained plastic surgeon

Answer: Breast surgery with anticoagulation Good afternoon and thank you for your inquiry. As you probably already know the use of warfarin increases the risk of bleeding during surgery and during post operative period. However, there are some options to address this if you want to have surgery. Discuss further with your hematologist for clearance and recommendations.
