I had a tummy tuck with liposuction two months ago and I have some tight "pulled" skin on my abdomen. I had a daily lymphatic massages for over a month and I am still massaging the area daily, will this go away? Any other treatments recommended? Thank you!
Answer: Will tightness and hard skin after lipo 2 months ago go away? Hello. Great question. Congratulations on your tummy tuck with liposuction procedure. At 2 months you have yet to see your final results. It can take up to six months for all the swelling to subside. Keep following up with your surgeon.

Answer: Hardening and tightness after liposuction Thank you for your question and picture. I would say that the issues that you are experiencing are very common at this stage after liposuction and abdominoplasty. I would like to reassure you that things are going to improve significantly in the next few weeks or months. Tightening , hardening and irregularities of skin can take twelve months to settle. In my experience lymphatic draining massages are very helpful and you should carry on with them. If you are concerned I advice a face to face check with your plastic surgeon for further reassurance. I wish you a quick recovery Kind Regards Mr Giorgio netri

Answer: Tummy tuck wrinkling You are early in your recovery so things will settle but what I see is a very common—in an attempt to keep the incision as short as possible the incision is closed by moving the skin on the outside part of your incision towards the middle and this can give you the creases that you see. Personally I prefer to make the incision a little longer and to get the front of the abdomen flatter and not have the creases or the pleats you have. Give it time and see how things settle out but if you are still unhappy after the settling then you might be a candidate for a revision. I would continue to massage.Certified, American Board of Plastic Surgery Member, American Society of Plastic Surgery Member, Florida Medical Association

Answer: Will tightness and hard skin after lipo 2 months ago go away? Thanks for your question. Healing after a tummy tuck and liposuction procedure is usually retty straight forward. There is a process of swelling and bruising that peaks at 3 days after surgery and then undergoes the first stage of major resolution in the first 2 weeks after surgery. The lateer phase of healing takes place over the 2-3 months after surgery where everything really settles and softens. It is after this time that we are getting close to the final result, though this varies patient to patient.

Answer: Will tightness and hard skin after lipo 2 months ago go away? Hello dear!! Thanks for the question and provided information as well. You are still early on the healing process, it can take up to six months to see your final results, so please be patient. At the stage you are in, inflammation is normal. I suggest my patients to try the lymphatic massages and to use a full body compression garment, 24/7 for the first 3 months, and after that, for 12 hours a day for 3 more months, to get the best results. It is important for the compression garment to be very tight, for it to help with the swelling, after surgery. Please, follow up close with your plastic surgeon. Good luck :)
