Surgical excision for moles starts with numbing medicine. This is usually done with injectable lidocaine which does sting. After that, it's usually not a big deal from a pain standpoint. You will have a scar afterwards. We cannot do surgery that does not leave scars. The point is to make the scar as inconspicuous as possible.
