Sometimes I will leave the splints in place for 14 days but we typically remove sutures on the face around 7 days post op to avoid the sutures leaving marks on the skin. You may want to confirm with your surgeon if you do in fact have sutures that need to be removed and if they have any concerns about leaving them in that long. Its possible they used dissolving sutures and they will fall out on their own.
Thanks for your question. We usually recommend having your sutures removed in the 7-9 day range to avoid permanent marks, or dots of scar, where the sutures were. There are no other concerns that I can think of.
Every surgeon is different and you will have to Ask the surgeon you trusted your surgery too. I typically remove the external cast and internal splints at 1 week. In rare instances I leave the internal splints for up to 2 to 3 weeks in cases of septal perforation repair. I hope this helps, Dr. Ardeshirpour
Hi there,Typically if you’re pushed back an office should review your chart prior to doing so. This way it’s safe to have you wait a bit longer. However, if you have concerns you should call and ask. If it would give you peace of mind, this may be a good idea.Good luck with your recovery.
Hello from View Plastic Surgery. At my hospital, the stitches on nose are removed on the 7th postop day. I feel that 2 week is a bit late but please follow your surgeon's instruction. Regards,
