I had 1ml of juvaderm fillers mainly in my top lip. But now my top lip hangs way over my bottom lip. I know it has only been 24 hours but I do not think th fillers suit my lips. Should I get them dissolved or will this go down and look normal. Advice please
Answer: How to Avoid the Dreaded "Duck Lips" From Lip Fillers Hi Mirror,Physicians who create "Duck Lips" give a whole new meaning to the term "quack." Your question illustrates the importance of choosing your aesthetic injecting physician most carefully based on their skill, experience, and most importantly their natural artistic vision. 1 cc of Juvederm is a large amount for only the upper lip. You should wait a week and if it is still ducky then have it dissolved. Good luck and be well.Dr. P

Answer: Juvederm Thank you for your question. It is best to wait two weeks before deciding to use hyaluronidase to break down the filler. Swelling and bruising are comment side effects and can take up to two weeks to subside. It is best to have a follow up appointment with your provider who performed your injections. To be sure what is best for you, see two or more board-certified providers in your area for a complete evaluation to make sure you are a good candidate and that it is safe for you to have treatment. I hope this helps.

Answer: Lip Swelling After Fillers Such as Juvederm or Restylane -- Reverse With Hyaluronidase It is common to get swelling after fillers into the lips. It is not normal to have irregularities or severe swelling. If you are unhappy you should speak to your physician and have the area injected with hyaluronidase, an enzyme that reverses the hyaluronic acid filler. For the next injections, consider Restylane Silk with cannula injection, this technique will limit the pain, swelling or bruising after the filler placement. It often takes up to two weeks for swelling to subside on its own. Find an expert in filler injections for your future treatments. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: Duck lips after Juvederm I agree with you that, right now, your upper lip is way too full. However, it's only been 24 hours and you are likely very swollen. You should see improvement in the next 3-5 days. But if your lip remains excessively full some of that filler will need to be removed with hyaluronidase and possibly a small amount of filler placed in your bottom lip for balance. I hope this information is helpful for you.Stephen Weber MD, FACSDenver Facial Plastic Surgeon

Answer: Lip swelling At 24 hours your lips will still be very swollen. It may take a week for the swelling to resolve. This should improve dramatically at 72 hours. You can elevate your head when sleeping and use cold compresses to help.
