Can I use dermal filler on this indented scar? (photos)

Question

Recently acquired this scar and it's really getting me down, can it be fixed with dermal filling? I've had microneedling recommended too, but as dermal filling would provide a more immediate fix, that's my preference.

This scar can be improved with can be treated with laser spot treatment, fillers, microneedling/prp and subcision to help texture and blending. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a scarring expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Dermal filler is definitely an option, but will require annual treatments.  Given your young appearance you may want to consider fat grafting instead as this can provide a more permanent solution.  In addition fat graft may have the ability to remodel the scar based on delivery of stem cells to the area.  Adjunctive treatments with microneedling, PRP, and laser resurfacing can provide additional improvement if filling the indentation alone is not satisfactory.

Yes, a hyaluronic acid based filler could be used to improve the appearance of the scar. A series of microneedling treatment would help as well.

Dermal fillers are medicine that are injected to create volume and structure. This includes 'indented' scars. Because here, your doctor is using the dermal filler to create a 'spacer' for the natural volume your skin has lost through injury. 
Keep in mind that you may need more than one treatment for optimal results. And it will never return to baby smooth baseline that it may have been before injury.
