I had an otoplasty when i was 17 . I didn't get good cosmetic results so I had another one by another doctor. Ever since the surgeries -it's been 4 years now-both ears hurt sometimes very bad as if a knife is poking them and sometimes the pain totally disappears. The pain is mostly in the upper part where the protrusion was and where the stitches were put . It really gets hard to live with this disabling pain . Could you please tell me what could cause my chronic pain ?

Answer: What can I do about my chronic pain after otoplasty?
Revision of otoplasty is not unusual. Various techniques are available to modify results. Results may improve with prolonged use of compression. Please use this information when consulting in person with your Board Certified Plastic Surgeon.
Medical cyano-acrylate or tapes can hold back the ears. Care must be taken not to damage the skin. Please consult in person with a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon prior to making treatment decisions.
At this point in the healing process, this swelling could be normal, but a doctor can confirm this by palpation and/or needle aspiration. I would recommend going back to the doctor ASAP for confirmation.
