I have been told on this site that I am a good candidate for BBL. I am wondering if there is any way to do this procedure safer? Maybe an ultrasound to see the artery and nerve and cannula? Injecting more superficially, closer to the surface? Would it be visible/give a bad result, would the fat die in that area without suf. blood flow? My understanding is that fat needs some blood supply to feed on but does it also need to be close to the arteries? I was wondering if hip/breast fat transfer is safer?
Answer: Complications Thank you for your question,Any surgery that is preformed no matter how advanced the technology currently, there are always risks and/or possibility of complications. Some are common complications that happen often and others are more rare occurrences like fat emboli or infections. With the injecting the fat via ultrasound to avoid the vasculature of the glute that is a much safer way than the traditional way of doing the injections "blind". Going closer to the skin in the fatty tissue area of the buttock is safer while injecting "blind" because there are much less large vessels in the fatty tissue. The benefit of injecting into the muscle is the blood supply which more fat will survive, but it has a higher risk potential to cause a fat emboli that can be fatal. The benefit of injection into the fatty layer is less risk of a fat emboli, but less fat will survive there and you may want to have an additional procedure done at a later time. Either way you choose to go, ensure that you know ALL of the risks and complications and go with an experienced ASPS board certified surgeon in your area that has done a lot of BBL procedures. I wish you the best of luck!

Answer: Brazilian Butt Lift Brazilian Butt Lift recovery time is dependent on how the patient’s body reacts to the procedure. Patients usually return to work after a week but you should not sit without the use of cushions for at least two weeks and you must wear a compression garment for several weeks after the procedure. You should wait until at least 2 weeks after the procedure to engage in sexual activity. Swelling and discomfort normally fades at six weeks. After about a month you will be mostly healed and you can get a nice idea of the permanent results after around six months.

Answer: BBL candidate Dear aryadne,I instruct my patients not to sit for 2 solid weeks. We provide them a specialized pillow that our patients can sit on during that time. They can sleep on their stomachs or sides. Fat viability depends a lot of surgeon technique. The fat has to be placed back into the buttocks as soon as possible so that it has a greater chance of survival. It has to be placed carefully so that not too much fat is placed in only one area.If you are considering a surgery, I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations.Daniel Barrett, MD Certified, American Board of Plastic Surgery Member, American Society of Plastic Surgery Member, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery

Answer: BBL safety The best way to maximize your results, and most importantly your safety, is to start with a well qualified Board Certified Plastic Surgeon (or equivalent for your country). It is one choice that should not only be based on cost. Good luck.

Answer: Is it possible to avoid BBL complications? Any surgery involves risks. Do everything to ensure that you are in good health and choose a board certified PS who has elite education, training, and experience in performing BBLs. The fat should be injected above the gluteus muscles and superficially under the skin into the fat and surrounding tissue of the buttocks. No fat should be injected into the muscle to all but eliminate the risk for fat embolus and death (although this rate is most probably not zero). Precise placement of the fat is necessary to help reduce the risk for fat pooling and resulting fat necrosis and/or infection.
