Abdominal bruising and swelling after breast augmentation. I'm 6 days post op. Advice? (photo)

and photograph. Congratulations on your recent breast augmentation, as well. It
is extremely common to see bruising during the first one to two weeks after a BA
procedure. These may take several days to appear; however, bruising is normal.
Should you have any further concerns, reach out to your operating surgeon
again, as he/she knows the most about your specific procedure and recovery
progression. Although these bruises may be tender, if the pain should increase
or sudden swelling is seen, contact your physician immediately.

Thank you for your photos. It is not unusual to experience some bruising after breast augmentation surgery. Also, tightness may also be experienced as the tissues around the implants are still swollen following the surgery.

However, if you experience significant change in the size of your breast and that the bruising persists, it is best that you visit your plastic surgeon for an in-person examination. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations.

It doesn't look alarming by the photos, but if you have any concerns regarding your recovery, I would follow up with your surgeon. Best of Luck !

Thank you for your question and photograph. Bruising is not uncommon after breast augmentation. your photograph shows mild bruising. If you start experiencing increased pain, rapid increase or expansion of the bruising or a significant increase in the size of one breast, or pain in one breast, compared to the other, you should be evaluated immediately by your plastic surgeon. Thanks for your question. Bruising is relatively common after breast augmentation, and is most commonly under the breasts due to the effect of gravity. Your bruise does not look to dramatic, and it should disappear over the next few weeks. 

Bruising can occur below the area of surgery mostly due to gravity.  Generally bruising and swelling will start subsiding and disappearing in the next two weeks.  If you are having any increase in pain in your breasts please call your plastic surgeons office.  Good luck.

Thank you for your question.Gravity causes bruisng and swelling to settle in the abdomen. My concern would be to make sure that your breasts look symmetric from side to side. If the left side is noticeably larger or more bruised than the right, you could have a hematoma.  I would suggest taking the bandages off and evaluating this. As long as everything looks similar from side to side the bruising in the abdomen is nothing to worry about.

Hello. Swelling and bruising below the surgical area is 100% common and expected. It should decrease within the next few weeks, and even possibly sooner. There are a few products that help with bruising and healing. One is called Arnica, it can be taken orally or applied topically. Also, eating or drinking pineapple can help. Hope this helps.

Swelling and bruising are commonly experienced after breast augmentation. These usually persists for months but will resolve on their own. Always follow-up with your surgeon to prevent complications.
