Rib pain following surgery: I had a breast augmentation 9 days ago.

Question

The one week post op was good, stitches have dissolved and wounds have healed. My boobs have not been a problem, and seem to be recovering great. However, I have had constant terrible pain in my upper ribs. Why? Thanks in advance.

Thank you for your question.  It is quite common to experience soreness 10 days after breast augmentation.  Increased pain should be evaluated by your plastic surgeon.  Good luck.

Experiencing pain in the rib are is not unusual as it is close to where your surgery was performed, but I highly recommend you ensure your Plastic Surgeon is aware of the pain. Throughout the healing process keep an open line of communication to ensure the best results.

Pain is not uncommon after surgery. This may be due to severed nerves during the surgery or just a normal manifestation of healing. Pain and swelling usually resolve overtime but if the pain is no longer tolerable, consult with your surgeon for pain medication.

Hi There.  Congrats on your #BA.  It sounds like you are having muscle pain rather than rib pain.  If you implants were under the muscle then this is expected.  I would recommend that you check with your surgeon or nurse that all is well.  Cold compresses will help and be careful raising your arms above nipple level until you feel more comfortable.  Good luck with your recovery.

This is not unusual and is usually related to the internal stitches used to reinforce the infra mammary fold. Best to run this by your PS but this will improve. Make sure the bra/garment is not rubbing.

It is not uncommon to have pains and soreness after your breast augmentation, especially with it being so recent.  Your symptoms should gradually improve over time.  Regardless, you should follow-up with your surgeon and let him/her be aware of your symptoms to ensure everyone is on the same page.  Hope that helps!

Its normal to have pain in the first 15 days off and on.
I am sure your PS can suggest you how to take care of it.
Why not follow up with him.
