3 months post-op hair transplant - tiny skin tissue balls with hair shafts are falling out. Is it going wrong?

3 months ago I had a fue transplant of 3300 grafts. Recently I have been noticing tiny white balls of skin tissue falling out with hair shafts from the transplant while I am massaging my head. I am worried I am losing my grafts. I messaged rhe doctor who is asking for photos but now they seem to have stopped. I was experiencing this for a out a month. Has anyone got experience in this matter and can share some light on this? Is this normal and will the hair grow back?

If you are having issues after surgery, it is best to contact your doctor.  If your doctor is not returning your calls that would be a worse concern.  What you are describing does not sound typical.  Find another doctor to see if you cannot get a hold of your doctor.

There may be 2 issues going on, either shock loss or transplanted hair is falling out later with scabs. If you had a tremendous amount of scabs and did not wash it appropriately it may be coming off at this point. Or may be experiencing shock loss. Nevertheless, if I were you I would keep trying to contact your surgeon, or find another doctor who can assist you. I hope this helps!

After 3 months you should now be seeing early signs of growth. If you are seeing shedding of grafts at this point it is possible that you have not been washing your scalp thoroughly. I would suggest a follow up appointment with your hair restoration surgeon.

Transplanted graft’s hair starts to shedding in the first week of surgery and may go on untill 4-6 th weeks after surgery. İt is not surprising to lost approx.  %70-80 of all transplanted hair shafts in first month when you are washing, gently rubbing  or touching the head. If you have still that kind of shedding you have to wash hairs with pressured massage  on the scalp.New hair at transplant/recipient area starts to grow at 3-4 th month after surgery .

after three months you should be having hair starting to grow in. If you are concerned about losing hair then you need to contact your hair loss specialist and do a follow up visit.
