What is the most effective treatment for underarm sweating hyperhidrosis? Infini or Miradry

Neuromodulators such as Botox, Jeuveau, Dysport and Xeomin are effective in the treatment of axillary hyperhidrosis.  However, the cost of treatment can be significant over time and frequent maintenance is required in order to be effective. We have chosen the Miradry procedure for our patients with excessive sweating. As mentioned by others, Miradry is safe and effective in eliminating sweat, odor and hair in most patients with just a single treatment. A much smaller percentage of patients will require 2 treatments for complete eradication of sweat and odor. Patient satisfaction is extremely high with a 90% "worth it" rating on this website. The downsides include minor issues such as temporary swelling and numbness. Infinity is a needle based radiofrequency device that lacks the time and temperature control needed to uniformly heat the sweat glands to the desired endpoint. Hyperhydrosis is excessive sweating in multiple areas. For hyperhydrosis, neurotoxin is a game changer and decreases the sweating of the most common places such as palms and underarms.

Miradry is associated with over an 82% reduction in sweating after 1 treatment. Satisfaction is very high. MIcroneedle radiofrequency treatments may also be beneficial but Miradry seems to be the gold standard as far as permanent sweat reduction.Botulinum toxin is, of course, effective, but a bit cost prohibitive in the long term. We use Miradry in my office as our current go-to treatment for excessive sweating for these reasons.

Although Dysport, Botox, Jeuveau, and Xeomin can be injected to treat sweating effectively, the long term costs exceed that of the Miradry, which is permanent for about two thirds of patients in one treatment and one third of patients in two treatments. In our experience, less than 5% of patients feel that two treatments is insufficient. Miradry uses microwaves to target water molecules in the sweat glands. Local numbing medicine is required, but the procedure is non-invasive. Infini uses radiowaves to heat up the sweat glands. This is a newer device and early results suggest it is less effective than Mirady. As always, discuss the available treatment options with a plastic surgeon who has experience treating this problem and using the different treatment options available. Doctors will tend to suggest using the tools or devices that they have available or own, but they should be able to discuss specifics about the relative advantages and disadvantages of various treatment modalities. The most effective treatment for hyperhidrosis for the underarm area is miraDry. Using Radio Frequency and high levels of heat destroying sweat glands that are over stimulate and causing the problem. After one or two treatments you will have up to a 82% permanent reduction in sweat in the underarm area. It will not effect sweating elsewhere. It doesn't harm your bodies temperature regulation. Some advantages, for women especially is the 70% reduction of hair in the area. There is little discomfort during the treatment aided by anesthetic. After treatment there is some discomfort, swelling and possible bruising Results sometimes are immediate. Great treatment many happy patients.

Miradry seems to be the gold standard as most patients experience significant reduction in underarm sweating, hair, and odor. The treatment is very well tolerated whereas, Infini can be quite painful and not render the same results as Miradry. For severe cases, a second treatment may be necessary for additional reduction.

We have treated over 250 patients with miraDry over the last few years and the satisfaction rate is very high.  Most patients obtain over 85% reduction in sweat after a single treatment. A small percent of patients will opt for a second treatment many months later.Infini (microneedle radio frequency) generally is done as 2 treatments a few weeks apart with 50 to 75% sweat reduction. miraDry is proven to reduce odor and hair as well.Both methods work, I feel that miraDry has an advantage.
