How much chin filler do I need? (Photo)

Receding chin or micrognathia along with hyperactive mentalis and submental fullness requires a careful evaluation of the face from all angles, and discussion of pros and cons of both surgical and non surgical options.The surgical correction such as chin implant, submental liposuction  would be a long lasting and more cost effective option. Non surgical options such as Kybella for submental fullness, Botox injection for hyperactive Mentalis muscle, and high G prime fillers such as lyft or Voluma would be a great short term alternative.

Your chin is quite recessive, but you may be happy with just two syringes of Voluma to bring your chin more in line with your lips. Better to underfill and add more later, than to overfill and be unhappy. I’d also suggest Kybella or CoolMini to remove your double chin; that will improve your profile, too. Consulting a board-certified dermatologist will allow you to get the stronger, cleaner profile you want.

You have a few options to improve the symmetry of your chin and jawline. If you’re not sure you’re ready for surgery, but still want to improve and strengthen your chin and jawline, I’d suggest augmenting your chin with Sculptra and/or Voluma. It may take 2 syringes to get the projection you want. If you like your new look, you can make it permanent with a chin implant. I hope that helps.

Thank you for your question. If you would like to start with a less invasive approach to chin augmentation filler may work well. I recommend you start with an HA filler that can be dissolved. My go to is restylane because it has a higher G' and can be dissolved. Once you have a desired result and are happy with it, then I switch patients to radiesse. This cannot be dissolved but has the the highest G' meaning that it gives the most structural support to the area and is closest to behaving like bone. I recommend you seek consultation with someone that is well versed in the procedure. Good luck! 

Hello and thank you very much for your question. You have multiple options for improved appearance and balance of the chin and submental region (area under the chin). In regards to your chin, permanent solutions such as surgery to advance the bone (genioplasty) or chin implants can are options, as are temporary solutions such as fillers to this area for augmentation. To address the submental region, liposuction, Coolsculpting, or Kybella are all options for fat reduction to reduce the appearance of the excess fat. I strongly recommend visiting a board certified plastic surgeon to determine which option would be best for you. 

It appears that you need at least two syringes of Voluma to help improve your chin area.  I would start with two syringes and see if you need one more after two weeks of the injections settling in.  Please consult an expert in cosmetic fillers to help you.  Best, Dr. Green
