Ok so the Radix on my nose is quite narrow, this makes my eyes look closer set than they really are. It is also medium set, but I would like it higher as to me this is a more handsome and masculine (I'm male) appearance both from the front and the side profile. So my question is, can the radix be raised and widened to a noticeable degree, and does this require an implant, a graft, or is there a permanent filler that can achieve this? Thank you.
Answer: Altering radix height Hello!Radix grafts with cartilage are typically used to increase radix height. Depending on your nose (without photos everything is general of course) septal cartilage or rib may be needed. Permanent fillers are NOT used in the nose and fillers in that region in general have a higher risk of causing blindness and necrosis than elsewhere in the face. Good luck and stay safe!

Answer: Radix Augmentation Hello, Thank you for your question. Radix is the starting point of the nose which has a determining role in a male rhinoplasty. Theoretically speaking radix augmentation is possible with the septal cartilage if not enough with the rib cartilage grafts. I don't recommend inorganic implants due to allergic issues. Fillers can be helpful temporarily please note that fillers may dissolve up to 4 years on the radix. For detailed examination need to consult a plastic surgeon experienced in male rhinoplasty. Answer: Raising and widening the nasal radix You seem fairly astute when it comes to your nasal anatomy, aesthetics, and possible treatment methods. Augmenting various parts of a nose, including the radix, can often easily be done with injectable fillers. I would recommend something that is known to be fairly short term, temporary, and reversible (ie. an HA like Juvederm or Restylane) at first. This would give you the opportunity to see if you like what you see. If so, you could then continue with injections or step it up to a surgical procedure. While an implant can be used, my favorite procedure to augment the radix and or dorsum is to use autogenous (your own) cartilage, dice it, and place it in rolled deep temporal fascia. If you choose the surgical route make sure you find an experienced rhinoplasty plastic surgeon.

Answer: Changing shape of nasal radix It is very difficult to comment on your question without in person evaluation. In general, experienced plastic surgeons would use your own tissue (cartilage, crushed cartilage, fascia) to achieve contour corrections which are not produced with standard rhinoplasty. Selection of the graft material and particular technique should be decided on the basis of thorough evaluation and discussion about patient's goals. Good luck.

Answer: Radix implant Radix implant can improve the profile and frontal view as well. However to make sure it looks good you can first try a reversible filler like hyaluronic acid. If you do like that look then go for a permanent implant.RegardsDr. Janjua
